Adult neurogenesis is a highly regulated process during which new neurons are generated from neural stem cells in two discrete regions of the adult brain: the subventricular zone of the lateral ventricle and the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus in the hippocampus. Defects of adult hippocampal neurogenesis have been linked to cognitive decline and dysfunction during natural aging and in neurodegenerative diseases, as well as psychological stress-induced mood disorders. Understanding the mechanisms and pathways that regulate adult neurogenesis is crucial to improving preventative measures and therapies for these conditions. Accumulating evidence shows that mitochondria directly regulate various steps and phases of adult neurogenesis. This review summarizes recent findings on how mitochondrial metabolism, dynamics, and reactive oxygen species control several aspects of adult neural stem cell function and their differentiation to newborn neurons. It also discusses the importance of autophagy for adult neurogenesis, and how mitochondrial and autophagic dysfunction may contribute to cognitive defects and stress-induced mood disorders by compromising adult neurogenesis. Finally, I suggest possible ways to target mitochondrial function as a strategy for stem cell-based interventions and treatments for cognitive and mood disorders. 相似文献

Single-metal high-temperature solid sorbents for syngas cleaning using Mn, Ca, Fe, Cu, or Mo supported on γ-Al2O3 were synthesized, characterized, and tested in a fixed-bed reactor. H2S and SO2 concentrations in the gas after treatment at T = 400 to 700 °C were compared with thermodynamic calculations. The Mn-based sorbent showed the best ability to achieve a low sulfur residual in the gas, especially at temperatures above 600 °C. Sorbents with Fe, Cu, and Mo gave SO2 formation in the initial phase, but this could be avoided by a pre-reduction treatment of the sorbent material. 相似文献

The morphotropic composition of the lead-free solid solution between Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 and BaTiO3 (0.94 Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-0.06 BaTiO3 or NBT-6BT) is of particular interest for the next generation of high-temperature capacitors but remains plagued by the diversity of dielectric properties reported in the literature. In order to explain the apparent inconsistencies among the reported dielectric properties of NBT-6BT, we examine the influence of stoichiometry, phase separation, and metallization method. We show that the nominal stoichiometry has a crucial effect, since increasing the nominal Na/Bi ratio increases conductivity and dielectric losses (tan δ). It also increases the real part of the permittivity (ε’) and the frequency dispersion of both ε’ and tan δ, thereby altering the shape of the evolution with temperature of the dielectric properties. Moreover it increases the depolarization temperature (Td) and decreases the temperature of maximum permittivity (Tm). Phase separation also occurs during the synthesis of NBT-6BT as Na evaporation leads to the formation of secondary Ba-containing phases. We report that these phases can have a positive impact on the dielectric properties: a moderate volume fraction (2.5 to 3.0%) and average grain surface (0.9 to 3.0 µm2) of these secondary Ba-containing phases increase the relative permittivity, decrease the dielectric losses, and increase the insulation resistance. We also show that the metallization method impacts the dielectric properties and therefore may contribute to the differences between various reports. The dielectric properties of NBT-6BT samples are measured during successive heating/cooling cycles and reveal that the permittivity value is lower during the first heating when silver paste, even cured, is used. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most prevalent malignancies worldwide. HCC is associated with several etiological factors, including HBV/HCV infections, cirrhosis, and fatty liver diseases. However, the molecular mechanism underlying HCC development remains largely elusive. The advent of high-throughput sequencing has unveiled an unprecedented discovery of a plethora of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs). Despite the lack of coding capacity, lncRNAs have key roles in gene regulation through interacting with various biomolecules. It is increasingly evident that the dysregulation of lncRNAs is inextricably linked to HCC cancer phenotypes, suggesting that lncRNAs are potential prognostic markers and therapeutic targets. In light of the emerging research in the study of the regulatory roles of lncRNAs in HCC, we discuss the association of lncRNAs with HCC. We link the biological processes influenced by lncRNAs to cancer hallmarks in HCC and describe the associated functional mechanisms. 为改善涂层在真空、高温等苛刻条件下的摩擦学性能,利用中频直流磁控溅射技术在硅片和316L不锈钢上沉积了CrN和CrN/Ag涂层,利用扫描电镜、透射电镜和X射线衍射仪对涂层的成分及相结构进行了表征,通过划痕测试仪、纳米压痕仪和摩擦磨损试验机测试了涂层的力学及摩擦学性能。结果表明:添加Ag元素以后,CrN/Ag涂层硬度及承载能力有所减小,但结合强度增加;真空高温环境下CrN与CrN/Ag涂层摩擦因数随温度升高呈下降趋势,其中CrN涂层通过软化镀层减小剪切强度和阻力,从而减小摩擦因数,CrN/Ag涂层主要通过高温产生的热驱动力诱导表面Ag润滑膜的形成来减小摩擦因数;CrN涂层依靠自身剪切特性参与摩擦,而CrN/Ag涂层在真空高温下具有自润滑和持续润滑性能,作为自润滑零部件具有潜在的应用价值。 相似文献

Most protons in the solar wind belong to one of two different populations,the less dense beam protons and the denser core protons.The beam protons,with a velocity of(1-2)VA(VA is the local Alfvén speed),always drift relative to the core protons;this kind of distribution is unstable and stimulates several kinds of wave mode.In this study,using a 2D hybrid simulation model,we find that the original right-handed elliptically polarized Alfvén waves become linearly polarized,and eventually become right-handed and circularly polarized.Given that linearly polarized waves are a superposition of left-handed and right-handed waves,cyclotron resonance in the right-handed/left-handed component heats beam/core protons perpendicularly.The resonance between beam protons and right-handed polarized waves is stronger when the beam relative density is lower,resulting in more dramatic perpendicular heating of beam protons,whereas the situation is reversed when the beam relative density is larger. 相似文献
